NEW ENGLAND HERITAGE
As a young man in his early twenties, Arakel K. Yazijian left the comfort of his family and Armenian homeland for the boundless opportunities awaiting him in America. He first settled in Worcester, Massachusetts where, while becoming acclimated to a new language and culture, he honed his skills as a metal worker.
A few years later, Arakel moved to California’s fertile San Joaquin Valley. And it was there, in 1920, that he opened his own metal working shop in a vacant horse stable adjacent to Fresno’s Downtown. Paying tribute to the region where he had “become an American” and learned his trade, Arakel named his company New England Sheet Metal Works, and thus laid the foundation for a metal working company that would be worthy of its name.
Since these humble beginnings, New England Sheet Metal has emerged as an industry leader in the design, installation and maintenance of HVAC & Plumbing systems, and industrial sheet metal fabrication. Our current facility is located on 20 acres, with over 60,000 square feet of office space, sheet metal & pipe fabrication shops, and warehouses. We employ over 300 of the most talented people in the industry, each of whom is committed to our Mission:
“To enrich people’s lives by providing sustainable environmental comfort through progressive Teamship™ focusing on trust, collaboration and customer satisfaction.“
To this day, the Company remains family-owned. Arakel’s daughter-in-law is majority shareholder, and his two granddaughters are minority shareholders. As a result, our employees remain ever mindful of Arakel’s vision and the New England heritage he instilled over 90 years ago.
